Last week, Indiana University Dance Marathon celebrated its annual Alumni Week, recognizing the thousands of individuals who have helped shape the organization into what it is today. Throughout the week, IUDM participants were challenged to raise $26 for the kids and families at Riley Hospital for Children in honor of the class of 2026.

In addition to honoring all our wonderful alumni, we wanted to give special recognition to our newest alumni in the class of 2026. This group was recognized during Senior Sendoff on Tuesday at Buffalouie’s. This event gave seniors the opportunity to reflect on their experiences in IUDM and celebrate all that they did to give back to Riley Hospital for Children and our organization.

Many IUDM alumni have gone on to pursue careers in pediatric healthcare at Riley. Emily Plaskett now works as patient care Technician at the hospital. Before her professional career, Emily was a committee member on Hospital Relations, then a chair for one year. Similarly, Morgan Conaway continued her connection with Riley beyond her time in IUDM, currently serving as a pediatric dental resident. Morgan participated in Dance Marathon all four years of high school and, during her time at IU, was the Director of Hospitality.

On social media, IUDM honored the legacy of Jill Stewart, who founded IUDM in 1991 in honor of her friend, Ryan White. The organization raised $10,900 for Riley in its first year, a number that has grown to more than $59 million, thanks to the dedication of the alumni. The organization’s founders were presented with the Founders Award at Children's Miracle Network Elevate event Wednesday night.

IUDM alumni attended committee meetings Wednesday, sharing their experiences with current members. Their perspectives offered valuable insights into how IUDM shapes a person's college experience for the better.

On Thursday evening, committees attended “Tacky Prom” at Switchyard Park. During the event, members showcased mismatching outfits and patterns, while participating in fun games and dancing.

Alumni Week concluded with the Kids Can’t Wait Tailgate on Saturday. Members gathered ahead of Indiana baseball’s game at Bart Kaufman Field to enjoy food, games and time with Riley buddies.
