IUDM Gets Sporty: A Day to Remember at the IU vs. Western Illinois Football Game

By: Jillian Bernstein

September 7th was a day filled with excitement and camaraderie as IUDM had the honor of being featured at the IU vs. Western Illinois football game. This event brought together IUDM members and Riley families for a memorable experience that celebrated both the spirit of the game and their commitment to supporting Riley Hospital for Children.

Before kickoff, members and families had the incredible opportunity to step onto the field. Meeting the players, band members, and cheerleaders was a fantastic way to kick off the day. The energy in the air was electric as all came together to support IU’s team.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the moment when participants ran the flag across the field. As they waved the flag proudly, they felt the support of everyone in the stadium, reminding all of the impact we can make when we come together.

The excitement didn’t stop there! IU had an amazing game, dominating Western Illinois with a score of 77 to 3. The victory was a testament to the hard work and dedication of IU’s team on the field—and a perfect way to celebrate the day together.

“The IUDM football game was a huge success! I loved being able to see our Riley families after our summer break & let them experience the spirit of Memorial Stadium!” says Elise LaSell, Director of Riley Development.

IUDM is immensely grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with IU Athletics. Days like this remind us of the power of community and the joy of working together for a common cause.
