Alumni Spotlight: Jack Dooling

On the 30th anniversary of IUDM, we would like to honor some of the inspiring alumni who embodied the FTK spirit and paved the way for what IUDM is today. Here is Jack Dooling, 2015 IUDM President.

What do you believe has been your greatest impact on IUDM?

For me, it has never been about the impact I’ve made on this organization but rather the impact IUDM has had in my life, the lives of so many of my friends and on so many Riley families. I have seen this organization grow and develop for over a decade and I am always continually amazed and pleasantly surprised on the positive reach this organization has. It is truly my pleasure to be a part of the Alumni Board for the 30th anniversary.

What is your favorite IUDM memory?

In 2015, I had the honor of serving as president of IUDM. In the final few hours of the marathon, Ross Lubbers (VP of Events at the time and one of my best friends) and I decided to take a step back and enjoy the marathon as if we were a first time dancer. We took time to interact with many of the Riley families and freshmen dancers who are experiencing IUDM for the first time. It was truly a once in a lifetime full circle moment that allowed us to celebrate and enjoy all the best parts of IUDM.

Why did you begin your journey with this organization?

When I decided to go to IU, it was a foregone conclusion I would join IUDM. I was so excited to be a part of it. My oldest brother and his wife actually met through IUDM in college. They had such an amazing, life changing experience it actually became a reason behind why IU was my college of choice.
