Indiana University Dance Marathon started as a small fundraiser to honor the memory of Ryan White, a young man that taught many around him the value of love and courage. Over the last 26 years, the organization has grown to become the second largest student-run philanthropic organization in the nation. This success relies upon the generous support of our students, alumni, Indiana University, the Bloomington community, and corporate sponsors. Most importantly, the marathon would not be possible without the incredible support of the Riley families themselves.
Over 1,400 students work year to raise funds and awareness for Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN. The tireless efforts of the students and advisors involved in the organization culminate in a 36-hour dance marathon each fall that includes dancing, entertainment, and numerous Riley family stories. Over 3,000 dancer participants remain awake and stand for the entire 36 hours in a display of support for the children at Riley. Below you can watch a video that summarizes the 2015 marathon.
We dance to build the dreams of tomorrow and hope that you too can join us in bringing smiles to the faces of countless children. Thank you in advance for any contributions; even the smallest contribution makes a significant impact.
