Anyone who has ever walked down Kirkwood on any sunny weekend afternoon knows it is a lively street conducive to good vibes and a lot of activity. Labor Day, however, was an even more popular day to visit Kirkwood as Indiana University Dance Marathon took over for its annual event Rockin’ 4 Riley.
Rockin’ 4 Riley is an annual event hosted by IUDM students to raise more money for Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. Many IU students visited Kirkwood with their friends to enjoy the live music, food, and friends. Various musicians and bands performed throughout the day including Young Abe, Jeff Morgan, Dave Campbell, Citrophonic, and Luke and Annette Offerle.
Rockin’ 4 Riley also featured multiple outdoor games such as Twister, Hopscotch, and Corn Hole. In addition, many restaurants on Kirkwood supported Riley and IUDM by donating a percentage of the day’s sales.
Most importantly, Rockin’ 4 Riley featured three Riley patients who shared their fantastic medical stories. IUDM apparel was also sold on a beautiful day that raised significant funds for the kids.
