On Tuesday, September 10, Runway Riley took place in Whittenberger Auditorium within the Indiana Memorial Union. The event, as part of Indiana University Dance Marathon, had an admittance fee of $5 and featured many of the Riley Hospital children as models for the upcoming IUDM apparel line. Some of the new clothing options displayed included a navy sweatshirt, a gray zip up, a “Carpe DM” tank, a bright salmon frocket, and a blue long-sleeve t-shirt, in addition to many others.

As the kids paraded down the aisles of wearing IUDM’s new 2013 garb, they were showered with applause from the crowd of our dance marathon committee members and executives. The entire fashion show took about five minutes as the kids danced down the aisles to Jesse McCartney’s “Beautiful Soul.” Once the fashion show was through, the hundreds of dance marathon members ran upstairs and quickly filled the room with the new apparel, finally available for purchase.

Response was so great for the event’s second year that many items, like the “Carpe DM” tank top and the salmon frocket, had to be reordered because they sold out even before the second wave of students were able to fit into the sales room. Lines were extensive, but the event and new apparel was well worth it.

Runway Riley directly benefits Indiana University Dance Marathon and serves as an excellent crossover to involve the Riley kids even more with this amazing cause. Go to the IUDM office within the IMU to check apparel availability today!
