  • 1. When / where is the next IU Dance marathon?

The next IU Dance Marathon will be November 13-15, 2009 at the Indiana University campus in Bloomington, Indiana.

  • 2. Do I need a ticket or a special pass to attend the event?

No, visiting the marathon is free to everyone. If you can't make it as a dancer or committee member, please come visit us! There is nothing better to help raise the morale of a dancer than a friendly face to check in on them in the late hours of the night. Who knows, maybe the Dance Marathon bug will bite you and you'll be out on the dance floor next year.

  • 3. Do I have to stay all 36 hours?

Each dancer is strongly encouraged to stay all 36 hours. We understand it sounds like a daunting task, but there are activities planned throughout the Marathon that ensure that there is never a dull moment. Plus, with the right attitude, we have no doubt that IUDM can be a life changing experience that you'll look back on as one of the most memorable times you had in college.

As one of our kids from Riley put it, "If I can stay up all 36 hours, so can you!"

  • 4. Do I have to dance?

While dancing is a fun part of the Marathon, there are a variety of activities to do that do not require dancing, including playing with the kids from the Riley Hospital for Children, socializing, playing sports games and eating.

  • 5. What about sleeping and eating?

As a dancer, there is no sleeping! However, dancers do have 13 meals throughout the 36 hours to keep energized. If you're craving something specific, just give your dancer buddy a call and have them meet you at the barricades with the must-have item. We would recommend sticking to fruits and veggies tho...the sugar and caffeine can be pretty tough to combat in the final hours.

  • 6. What activities are planned for the next marathon?

The Line Dance has become a tradition at the IU Dance Marathon, as well as the appearances of bands, karaoke, celebrity guests and playing with the kids from Riley Children's Hospital. Don't think you have to stick to just our activities, though. Get creative and feel free to bring your own ways to pass the time. We're constantly updating our activities as well, so you can be sure this year is even better than last!

  • 7. What responsibilities are expected of me as a volunteer/committee member?

IU Dance Marathon is a year long event, and it takes a great deal of preparation and planning. All committee members take active roles in getting each year's marathon off the ground and making each event better than the last. This includes attending weekly meetings as well as getting work done outside of the meetings to keep all of our events and fundraisers moving forward. Don't worry, we have just as much fun in the process, so you'll feel like a part of the Dance Marathon family in no time!

  • 8. How do I become a volunteer or committee member?

Visit our "Get Involved" section for information on how you can become a part of the next marathon.

  • 9. Who can I contact if I have more questions?

Please feel encouraged to contact us by our online form, e-mail, phone, or mail if you have any questions about IUDM or Riley Hospital.
